Concept

Fiber to the Room (FTTR) is a new fiber access technology that delivers fiber signals to indoor communication networks. In an FTTR network, fiber reaches a distribution box within a building and then travels through copper cables or other transmission media to each room, providing network services to users. Unlike traditional FTTH (Fiber to the Home), which transmits fiber signals directly to the user's home, FTTR transmits fiber signals into the building and then transmits the signals to each room via indoor network cables.

Advantages

First, FTTR whole-home smart gigabit fiber optic network utilizes a 1-to-N 10G optical modem model, allowing fiber optic connections throughout the building and within each room. This provides enhanced transmission capacity.

This results in higher transmission rates, longer cable life, support for 10G uplinks, and dynamic broadband signal display.

Second, FTTR can support up to 256 connected devices, eight times the maximum number of traditional networks (which typically have a maximum of 8-10 devices). This high connectivity allows a variety of smart devices in the home, such as TVs, mobile phones, tablets, and VR devices, to connect simultaneously without worrying about network congestion or speed drops.

Third, FTTR technology effectively eliminates the unsightly wiring issues associated with traditional cabling. By enabling compatibility with visible and concealed wiring, the wiring is more aesthetically pleasing, blending seamlessly into the home's surroundings without disrupting the decor. This provides users with a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing network environment. FTTR technology also offers the following advantages:

1. Full Wi-Fi signal coverage throughout the room: This eliminates signal attenuation caused by wall penetration, resulting in a 30% improvement in Wi-Fi performance and over 30% reduction in latency compared to the industry average, meeting the requirements of high-quality services such as cloud VR, 8K video, and gaming.

2. Efficient and economical deployment: Fiber is corrosion-resistant, supports multi-level splitting, and offers flexible expansion, enabling passive to active replacement and multiple layers to two layers. Its minimalist architecture offers a 30-year lifespan, effectively reducing home networking complexity and maintenance costs. Installation is simplified, with pre-installed optical cables using special high-strength connectors and visualization tools ensuring fast and efficient fiber deployment and installation.

3. Intelligent Operation and Maintenance: A single intelligent operation and maintenance platform enables visibility, management, and maintenance of the entire home network, enabling more efficient management. It also enables proactive fault identification and Wi-Fi optimization, reducing site visits by 30% and improving user satisfaction.

Huawei's FTTR products also offer several unique features. It supports internet access speeds of up to 10Gbps, meaning users can enjoy a smoother online video, gaming, and multimedia experience. It also allows multiple devices to connect simultaneously, ensuring each device receives sufficient bandwidth, ensuring uninterrupted use of various applications. Furthermore, Huawei's FTTR products utilize advanced network technology to provide a more stable network connection, eliminating issues such as disconnections and lag. Users can also easily manage their home network through a mobile app or web interface, monitoring network traffic, setting parental controls, and managing connected devices.

Application Scenarios

FTTR has a wide range of applications, including mobile base stations, cellular network expansion, fiber-optic cells, and broadband wireless access. For example, FTTR can be used to bring optical fiber to mobile base stations, providing high-speed, stable, and reliable data transmission, thereby improving network capacity and performance. In high-density urban areas or locations requiring high-capacity coverage, FTTR can also be used to implement fiber-optic cells, providing improved coverage and higher network speeds.
