Description

ZTE GFBL Overview

The ZTE GFBH is a 16-port XG-PON&GPON Combo OLT service card applicable to ZTE ZXA10 C600/C650/C680 OLTs, which supports 16 XG-PON & GPON SFP+ hybrid interfaces, a maximum optical split ratio of 1:128 for both GPON and XG-PON, optical power monitoring, the ALS function of optical modules, and hot swapping; while the ZTE GFTL is a 16-port XGS-PON OLT interface board compatible with N1/N2a modules that can also be applied to the same ZXA10 C600/C650/C680 OLT models, featuring a maximum optical split ratio of 1:256, along with support for optical power monitoring, the ALS function of optical modules, and hot swapping to ensure efficient and reliable network operation and maintenance.

Product Features

  • High Density & Capacity: 16 ports per card, supporting large-scale deployments.
  • GPON & XG-PON Combo: Allows for mixed deployment of GPON and next-generation XG-PON services.
  • Scalability: High split ratios (up to 1:128 for both GPON and XG-PON) to accommodate more users.
  • PON Standards Compliance: Complies with ITU-T G.984 (GPON) and G.9807 (XG-PON) standards.
  • Hot-Swappable: Can be inserted/removed without interrupting service.
  • Optical Monitoring: Supports Optical Laser Shutdown (OLS) and optical power monitoring for fiber management.

Application Scenarios

1. Broadband Upgrade in Austria

Austrian operator Hutchison 3 deployed ZTE GFBL 16-port combo boards on ZXA10 C650 OLTs to address surging data traffic from smartphone users. The dual-mode card supported existing GPON ONUs and new XG-PON devices via SFP+ hybrid interfaces, with a 1:128 split ratio for both technologies covering 2,000+ users per board. OLS enabled real-time fault detection, ALS protected maintenance teams, and hot-swappable design allowed non-disruptive upgrades. The deployment boosted network speed by over 3x, meeting user demands for high-speed streaming and mobile broadband.

2. Mixed-Service Deployment in Germany

German telecom E-Plus adopted ZTE GFBL boards on ZXA10 C680 OLTs for its residential and SMB network expansion. The combo card’s 1:128 split ratio optimized coverage efficiency, while compatibility with GPON/XG-PON ONUs supported flexible service delivery—from basic broadband to high-speed business plans. Optical power monitoring ensured stable connectivity, ALS enhanced on-site safety, and hot-swapping minimized downtime during peak hours. The deployment aligned with E-Plus’s strategy of providing cost-effective, high-performance broadband services to 1870k+ users.
