Huawei CE128000 Series Switch CE-MPUA Main Processing Unit The CE-MPUA is the main control unit of the CE12804/CE12808/CE12812/CE12816 chassis and is responsible for system control and management. A chassis can be configured with double CE-MPUA cards for 1:1 hot standby. This configuration improves system reliability.
Functions and features of the CE-MPUA
Function and Feature
Description
Device management and maintenance
Provides management ports (such as a serial port) for operators to manage and maintain the system.
Out-of-band communication between cards
The CE-MPUA integrates a LAN switch module that provides out-of-band communication between cards. The LAN switch module completes control, maintenance, and message switching for CMUs, SFUs, and LPUs.
Route calculation
The CE-MPUA processes all routing protocol packets, which are sent from the forwarding engine.
The CE-MPUA broadcasts and filters packets, and downloads routing policies from the policy server.
Data configuration
The CE-MPUA stores configuration data, startup files, upgrade software, and system logs.
Data saving
The CE-MPUA provides an embedded USB (eUSB) module as a storage device to save data files.

CE-MPUA FAQ
Q1: Which Huawei switch models does CE-MPUA support? How compatible is it?
A1: It mainly supports Huawei CE8800, CE7800, and CE6800 series mid-to-high-end switches. It boasts deep hardware and software compatibility, 100% compatibility, and runs normally without additional debugging.
Q2: Will the lightweight design affect control performance? How many devices can it support?
A2: The lightweight design focuses on core functions without redundancy, with performance precisely matched to small to medium-sized scenarios. A single main controller can support hundreds of network devices and hundreds of thousands of terminal connections, meeting the needs of small to medium-sized core networks.
Q3: What is the difference between CE-MPUA and the mid-to-high-end CE-MPUC series? How should one choose for small to medium-sized scenarios?
A3: CE-MPUA emphasizes lightweight design and high cost-effectiveness, suitable for small to medium-sized operations; the CE-MPUC series offers stronger performance and supports more devices, suitable for medium to large-scale scenarios. For small to medium-sized data centers and enterprise branches, CE-MPUA is a better fit for their needs and budget.
